Nos Paysages Intérieurs (Our Inner Landscapes) is born out of personal reflections on the way the places we inhabit shape us and mark various moments of our lives.

The music was written at a moment when most of my time was spent with my daughters, often at home where the piano was the most accessible instrument. In the past, my inspiration has often come from the experience of lands and cultures very far from my own but I now feel increasingly drawn to being close to the natural spaces that surround my own corner of the world. The state of our planet has made me believe more and more that the love and understanding of the natural spaces that surround us are essential values to pass on to the next generation. We need to learn to value and cherish something before wanting to preserve and protect it.

I also wanted to engrave the spirit of collaboration and humanity into the music’s DNA, in an epoch marked by isolation and artificiality. I asked my dear friend Nicolas Dupuis, also known as Anomalie, to perform the piano in Joie de vivre, Rêverie and Avant la pénombre. His sensibility and virtuosic playing shine through in every note. As for the Andara Quartet, you can hear its string players soar brilliantly during the various climaxes of the album.
